About Us

 

At the age of 7, I knew I had to step up to the plate. My dad died and I was the oldest of 5 children. Living in a big city, Chicago, Illinois, I was forced to work.  I didn’t know what I wanted to do, but I knew I had to do something to help my mom.  Without any guidance, I began to search.  I tried many things to help support my family.  All led to a dead end. But I kept on trying. 

 

After 2 marriages and 7 children, I was still searching. At the age of 40, I got married again, then moved to Colorado.  I kept the entrepreneurial spirit, trying various things to support my new blended family of now with 10 children.  I owned and operated several businesses, with no operating capital. But that didn’t stop me…..I kept trying. 

 

Eventually I got into the food business, owning and operating a Popcorn Shop, then a fast-food restaurant, then a food truck and another restaurant.  Covid happened and slowed down the business tremendously. So, I closed the restaurant and went back into my food truck.  Business was never the same. With prices of food surging and the cost to operate my food truck, I decided to sell. But I had another resource to pursue.

 

I was using a BBQ sauce that people really liked.  They urged me to bottle it. So I did.  With the food truck closed, I gave it my final pursuit.  I focused on the BBQ Sauce.   And here we are today ….. Big Poppy’s BBQ Sauce.
